Penitent Man : 02/2002 : Ink & Watercolor : 11" x 15" : I had really wanted to do an Aragorn / Boromir picture, but not really had any solid ideas, myself, so I put out a call out to my Live Journal. Several really nice folks responded, including Three, who I'd never known before, and Rose Argent, who is so not into LotR but wrote me a nice little short anyways. In the end, Rose Argent and Jenfr ran two lovely snips of fiction by me that gave me ideas for this picture. The despair, especially, the regret, the longing for forgiveness or redemption. Aragorn, while I was drawing him, came up with that grieving forgiving expression on his own ;). This image came to me in snippets... the expressions on the faces... the clutching hands... and actually frustrated me for several days before the sketch came together, and then the painting followed much easier after that. I'm not too sure if I'm happy with the palette, but it worked in the end. Yes, the title is from The Last Crusade (Indiana Jones movie)...
