III. On the Arts[the stroke of brush against canvas] He was a great patron of the arts, all of them: music, movement, painting, photography, literature. But something especially appealed to him in the strong lines and exotic spells of Wizard architecture. He aspired in his youth to have a floating castle like the great W----- who built them all over Europe until they were outlawed internationally (too much attention from the muggles, when they were stumbled upon, and too much of a mess when the spells were weakened after W---'s death, and nobody knew how to repair them.) He had considered, briefly, becoming involved in the field of Wizarding architecture, but his father had dissuaded him. Malfoys, his father had said, did not dirty their hands in such a way. Malfoys had other, lesser families do such tasks for them. He had wondered what Malfoys were to do, then, and his father had cursed him for his cheek, and then replied, "Malfoys have power, Lucius." The Harry Potter world, characters, and rights belong to JK Rowlings, WB, Scholastic, and not the to me. "The Life and Times of Lucius Malfoy" is a fan work created out of love and appreciation for Rowling's characters, stories, and worlds, and is in no way intending to infringe on the rights of the author and copyright owners. |
